FAU drops preseason debut friendly 2-0 against UCF

The Owls put its new players to the test in their first game in uniform against UCF in a preseason friendly opener.

Boca Raton, Fla.- The Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Owls men's soccer team dropped their preseason debut friendly at home 2-0 against the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The exhibition enrolled with unconventional periods split into four periods. It enables the new players to clock in for the first time in their Owls uniform to start meshing.

The first two halves of the game were timed 35 minutes each, the third 30 minutes, and the final period was 15 minutes.

The match saw a first-half balance, with both teams creating chances to open the score but drawing 0-0 at the end of the first.

The Knight found their opportunities in the second half and opened the score at 1-0.

The Owls struggled as the new team with 21 new athletes was in the process of finding a rhythm.

In the 30-minute third scrimmage, the Owls had better ball movements and came close to scoring on a few occasions.

Nevertheless, the Knights would find the net a second time and put the Owls away at 2-0 at the final whistle.

FAU will play its final preseason friendly match against Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, Aug. 16, at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
