Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Tuesday afternoon at DRV PNK Stadium, Guadeloupe emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Guyana, securing their spot in the Gold Cup Group Stage.
Guadeloupe displayed their dominance from the start, and even a lightning delay in the 15th minute could not hinder their momentum.
In the 18th minute, they broke through as Anthony Baron's cross ricocheted off two Guyanese defenders, ultimately finding its way into the back of the net, awarded Liam Gordon an own goal.
In the 57th minute, Guadeloupe solidified their advantage at 2-0 when Andreaw Gravillon curled a free-kick from about 30 yards away over the defensive wall and beyond the reach of McKenzie-Lyle for a spectacular goal.
Les Gwada Boys' defense stays steadfast, making it difficult for Guyana. As the clock ticked down, the Golden Jaguars attempted long-range shots in a desperate bid to salvage the match, but they could not find the net
Guadeloupe dictated the tempo and controlled possession of the game, beating Guyana 2-0, punching their fifth appearance in the group stage, and their second consecutive qualification.
