Las Vegas, Nev. – Jamaica and Mexico will battle on the pitch in the semifinal of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, with a spot in the final at stake. The highly anticipated match will play out this Wednesday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
These two teams have faced off in the Gold Cup knockout rounds before. In 2015, Jamaica made their first-ever appearance in the final, in a head-to-head with Mexico, who defeated them 1-3.
In the 2017 tournament, The Jamaican, Kemar Lawrence, scored on a late free kick to take revenge by eliminating Mexico in the semifinals with a 1-0 victory, accounted for their only win, besides a draw against the El Tricolor in eight Gold Cup encounters.
Jamaica looks forward to keeping their impressive world cup record intact by entering this match with three wins and a draw thus far.
In the quarterfinals, they secured a solid 1-0 victory over Guatemala, with the high performance of the goalkeeper Andre Blake, keeping a clean sheet with six saves.
Can the Reggae Boyz shake the El Tri-colors once more with a defeat? It is a question to the answer fans will have to wait until after the game.
Jamaica will play Mexico at the Allegiant Stadium this Wednesday, 12, at 10:00 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.
