According to sources, the Los Angeles Lakers have reached a maximum extension agreement with restricted free agent Austin Reaves, per ESPN.
Entering the league undrafted from Oklahoma in 2021, the Lakers signed him to a two-way deal during the summer. His contract later converted to a guaranteed roster spot just before training camp.
Reaves reached a contract at $12.4 million in the upcoming season, with an 8% raise scheduled for each subsequent season. The deal will ultimately amount to $56 million for four years.
He contributed 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while increasing his performance to a high level in the playoffs, averaging 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists as the Lakers advanced to the Western Conference finals.
In line with the objectivity to keep a core player, the Lakers have been active at the start of free agency, finalizing agreements with Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, and Cam Reddish on Friday. On Saturday, they also secured contracts with D'Angelo Russell and Jaxson Hayes before ultimately retaining Austin Reaves.
