The last encounter between the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) and Brazil was at the inaugural CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup on March 10, 2024, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California.
Lindsey Horan scored the lone goal in additional time before half-time, which secured the gold for the U.S.
The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown as the women's football teams compete in the final of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The USWNT delivered clutch performances in the knockout stage with only two goals, splitting 1-0 wins against Japan and Germany to reach the final.
On the other hand, Brazil found a new life of inspiring football when Marta Vieira da Silva saw a red card in the group stage. The team overcame the host France 1-0 in the quarterfinal before trouncing the world champion Spain 4-2 to move onto the Gold medal match.
With a couple of games in the stands cheering for the Seleção, the scenario played out well for the six-time Olympian forward, Marta, to have a magical farewell ending at the Paris 2024, to possibly upgrade her two silver medals to a Gold.
However, the USWNT stands in the way of the 38-year-old Brazilian legend, who intends to retire later this year.
It will be those two teams' second final this year, and the U.S. looks to continue its success over Brazil to add another Gold Olympic medal to its repertoire.
Meanwhile, Brazil aims to secure its first Olympic Gold, playing in honor of Marta this Saturday at the Parc des Princes, Paris.
