The last time the women’s tennis team played Kennesaw State was March 9, 2010, and that was the first time they ever played against each other, which resulted in a loss 3-4 which snapped their three-game winning streak at home then.

On the same day, thirteen years later, Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Owls won their third consecutive game during the spring break to bring their regular season to 6-9 by dropping Kennesaw State 5-2.

Coming into this game from their win against LIU 6-1 on March 6, 2023, the women’s tennis team felt they could carry on the momentum against the next opponent.

the girls are really starting to pick it up. We have tough teams coming up, so we have got to stay sharp. We are excited for the next challenge,” said the director of FAU Tennis, Ricardo Gonzalez.

The girls added the first point on the scoreboard by winning on the doubles courts before pulling away in the singles courts one, two, and three in straight sets. The run started with the FAU senior Martina Kudelova defeating Ji Youn Lee from Kennesaw 6-3, 6-2 on the top court.

The owls went up 3-0. Victoria Gomez O’Hayon won court three and defeated Sophia Unger of Kennesaw State University 6-3, 6-1. And the Owls sealed their victory with Katerina Filip, who breezed by Taylor Dean from Kennesaw State 6-3, 6-3 for the game-final score victory of 4-0.

The Owls are flying during the spring break and will take on their next opponent Colorado State this Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Boca Raton, Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.
