The former World No.1, Naomi Osaka, debuted the Miami Open round one with a victory against Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

Osaka started with a quick three games lead in the first set and took the set 6-3

Cocciaretto came out the second set with better energy, putting up good rallies. However, during a breakpoint, Osaka stole her service game to go up 3-2.

Eventually, Osaka served on two match points and put Cocciaretto away with another ace in two-set 6-3, 6-4.

Osaka's next match will be against the 15th seed Elina Svitolina.
