BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic Lady Owls (9-1, AAC 4-0) stormed to victory, defeating Tulane Green Wave 4-1 in the American Athletic Conference on Friday at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center. The Lady Owls continue to exceed their best start in a regular season with nine straight wins after their opening season match lost against Northwestern.

The Owls had a slow start against Green Wave, falling behind in doubles when Cora Barber and Mackenzie Clark of Tulane defeated 6-2 Carla Galmiche and Lexi Silna of FAU, followed by Kristen Barland and Lahari Yelamanchili, who defeated Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Millie-Mae Matthews 6-4 to give Tulane the 1-0 lead.

In the singles match, the Owls didn't waste any time.

Silna played on court #3 and broke down Barland in two sets 6-0, 6-2, while Matthews on court #5 defeated Russell 6-3, 6-3.

McGinnis, on court #6, swiftly dropped Brooke Theis of the Green Wave 6-2, 6-1 before Galmiche secured the victory for FAU with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Barber of Tulane on court #4.

The Lady Owls are one win away from their 2004 regular season when they won 10 straight games.

FAU continues the six-home-game stretch against Furman on Tuesday, March 5, at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center at 10:00 a.m.
