BOCA RATON, Fla. –The ITA No. 63, Florida Atlantic Tennis Lady Owls (10-1, AAC 4-0) defeated the Furman Paladins (2-9) 5-2 on Tuesday at Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center to extend their unbeaten streak to ten games.

It has been 20 years since the Lady Owls last experienced a winning streak like this. In the spring of that year, between February 22 and March 19, the Owls won ten games straight and ended the season with one of their best winning records of 16-6.

Looking ahead to Spring 2024, a fresh and motivated group of athletes has emerged for the Owls, eager for success.

Against the Paladins, the Owls took command in doubles play with the duo of Carla Galmiche and Lexi Silna, who won court #2 against Macy Hitchcock and Ellie Schulson 6-3.

On court #3, Panna Bartha and Amber McGinnis for FAU secured the doubles play point with their victory against the Furman duo of Jess Dawson and Grace Thomas 6-4, giving FAU a 1-0 lead.

The Owls remained high in their game in singles, while Panna Bartha continued her single winning streak record to ten, defeating Sara Snyder of the Paladins 6-2, 7-5 for FAU's 2-0 lead in the first to four.

The Paladins got on the board on court #4, with Thomas defeating Silna in tough sets 7-5, 6-4 to bring the game to 2-1.

The Owls showed resilience on court #2, with Victoria Gomez O'Hayon beating Maeve Thornton of the Paladins 7-6, 6-3.

On court #6, after another Owl hard-fought battle win in the first set 7-6, McGinnis secured the win for FAU in the second set victory 6-2, beating Marissa Pennings.

The game closed with the Owl advantage on court #5, with Matthews defeated 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 Hitchcock of the Paladins, and the Paladins picked up a late win on court #3 with Ellie Schulson defeating Galmiche 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Owls can push their winning streak to 11, and the last time they reached that record was in Spring 2002.

The Florida Atlantic Tennis Lady Owls have a tough match-up on Thursday against the Pennsylvania Quakers (10-4) at Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center at 10:00 a.m.
