Boca Raton - Fl. The Florida Atlantic Owls women's soccer team faced off against their in-state rivals, the University of Miami Hurricanes, in their inaugural away game of the season, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

The match started with the Owls playing up-tempo on offense against the Hurricanes, creating threatening moments.

In the 12-minute, the Owl Sloane Young got off a shot at the bottom center of the goal, forcing the Hurricane goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais to make a save and another from the bottom left by another shot by Young for the Owls first corner kick that did not bear fruit.

Noa Olivia Ganthier, who played an impressive only 7-minute in her FAU home debut against Little Rock last Thursday, had seen more action Sunday night with 34 minutes and was brought sooner on the pitch in the first period in the 32-minute against Miami, replacing Olivia Bori.

The Owls failed on the three corner kick opportunities in the first period to none given before the Hurricanes would take the advantage in the 37-minute with Tusca Mahmoudpour, who found the net for the 1-0, assisted by Emma Tucker off the Owls turnover.

The Owls wasted no time and mounted a counterattack before the halftime whistle in the 45-minute with the junior midfielder Ganthier, who scored her first goal for the team from an assist by the sophomore forward Michelle Horan to level the score at 1-1.

In the second period, Miami played more aggressively and created chances on four corner kicks after having none in the first half and got off three shots on target. However, FAU matched their efforts to deny them the winning goal to end the party at a final score of 1-1.

The Owls will travel for their next match against the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls on Thursday, August 24.

The showdown will kick off at 8 p.m., providing another opportunity for the Owls to take their first victory.
