Trinidad and Tobago Dominates Saint Kitts and Nevis to Win 3-0 in Group A Gold Cup Opener

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Trinidad and Tobago grabbed their first win in Group A of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup with a resounding 3-0 victory over Saint Kitts and Nevis in Group A action on Sunday at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Aside from losing a tough match, Saint Kitts and Nevis participated in their first-ever Gold Cup group stage match.

Trinidad and Tobago dominated possession in the first half, and their efforts paid off just before halftime when Alvin Jones found the back of the net with a volley in the 43rd minute from a Neveal Hackshaw pass into the box, giving the Soca Warriors a 1-0 lead. 

Trinidad and Tobago maintained their attacking assault in the second half. Fortune received the ball outside the Saint Kitts and Nevis area, evaded a few defenders, and shot into the net, making it 2-0 in the 65th minute.

Trinidad and Tobago extended their lead to 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Levi Garcia got into the box, and his deep cross deflected off the defender Jameel Ible and found its way into the goal.

Trinidad and Tobago take the commanding 3-0 lead, ensuring their victory and securing the three points.

Trinidad and Tobago will face Jamaica on June 28th at City Park in St. Louis, while Saint Kitts and Nevis will go up against the United States on the same day.
