Saint Louis, Mo. – The United States Blew Out Saint Kitts and Nevis 6-0 to take first place in Group A with top performances in Jesus Ferreira, who scored a hat trick, and Djordje Mihailovic with a double and two assists on Wednesday at CITY PARK in Saint Louis.

After The U.S. survived late in the 88 minutes against Jamaica in their Gold Cup opener, drawing a 1-1 tie, they came out in their second game with fire.

From the 12th minute in the game, they opened the score 1-0 when Bryan Reynolds played the ball forward from the right wing into the box that Gianluca Busio cut back across to the penalty area to set up Mihailovic, who placed it at the 45-degree angle in the net.

Just two minutes later, Reynolds added the second goal for the U.S. after a corner kick bounced out of the box to about 18 yards, where Reynolds whipped a low right-foot shot near the post for the 2-0 lead in the 14th minute.

The goal frenzy continued in the 16th minute when Jesus Ferreira received a pass from Alejandro Zendejas, who outran the defense to get inside the box and fired to the back of the net for a third goal in four minutes for the U.S.

In the 25th minute, Ferreira tallied his second goal of the night by making a well-timed run behind the defense to find himself one-on-one with Saint Kitts and Nevis goalkeeper Julani Archibald and shot threaded the needle between his legs to continue the goal avalanche at 4-0.

In the 50th minute, Ferreira struck again to complete his hat trick when Mihailovic found him in the box to finish it past Archibald into the net.

The United States utterly asserted their dominance by extending their lead to 6-0 in the 80th minute through a swift attacking move that Mihailovic capitalized on the assist of a well-orchestrated play of the midfielder Christian Roldan.

With this victory, the United States currently holds the top position in the group, ahead of Jamaica, because of a higher goal difference of 7-5.

The United States will play its next match against Trinidad and Tobago on July 2. Meanwhile, Saint Kitts and Nevis will face Jamaica on the same day.
